Many men have been raised to believe a heinous lie.
Go to college. Get a degree. Land a corporate job.
This cookie-cutter, conformist life plan has left many young men in debt with no real motivation or drive whatsoever.
They live for the weekend and spend their allowance on light beer and expensive dinners.
It’s their free time.
You’re thinking, if only someone would realize how talented I am…
I would make my way up the corporate ladder and earn more money.
Or another classic,
I can’t leave now, I have no backup job and without money I can’t live the party lifestyle I want.
We all need money, everyone knows that. If you are trading time to make someone else rich, then you deserve to wallow in mediocrity. You have an allowance, and you’ve chosen to squander it on bullshit you don’t need.
It’s time to break free of this arrangement… a caged existence.
You see, there are plenty of ways to make money that don’t require you to work to make someone else a successful drone-harvesting bastard.
It starts with knowing what you want.
I want to live wherever I want.
I want to own a business.
I want to work for me.
No, I will not wear khakis and a button down shirt.
No, I will not work Monday through Friday, 9-5.
No, I will not filter my thoughts during a productive meeting.
I want to be myself.
The last one, for me, was the most important of all. Last July, I literally could not stand one more second of my corporate job. There was absolutely no leadership, I was rotting away and wasn’t building a damn thing that would pay off in the future.
Until I read books like Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill or blogs like BoldandDetermined by Victor Pride did I realize that I had to start building my own brand by working for myself. It just requires dedication and persistence. You can do it too.
If you don’t have this mindset, then you will inevitably fall back into the corporate trap. It takes constant effort to get the most rewarding results.
Your entire mindset has to change. Decide who you want to be, or what your passion is, and start working toward it right now.
Tell your boss the coffee tastes like shit.
You’re done here.

Riz,
I was one of those men who believed in the mantra you explained above. Now I’m doing something to get out of this bullshit everyone calls normal. Building something is what is going to get me out!
Great post and blog Riz!
